“ It's my favorite sushi restaurant of all time. The choices for sushi rolls are so inventive and delicious. My favorite is the unique hand roll with uni and ikura. We love the staff, Louis at the Robata Bar is so terrific - Michael has an amazing staff we are so thankful to have Bizen in GB. ”
“ My family loved the experience. The Kamala Mamala sushi was delicious! Service was extremely pleasant and attentive and ambiance was wonderful. ”
“ We lucked into a lunch here on a rainy day. Very friendly service and food they clearly make with art and joy. Seafood soup has a rich mushroom broth. Sushi rolls were amazing, from the simple cucumber plum roll to the complex Yo Yo Ma Ma roll with so much roe! ”
“ The food was amazing and although they are quite busy, they were very hospitable and apologetic about our wait. Very fresh sushi and delicious tempura! ”
“ Great food, friendly staff, unique sugar-free desserts! We like the norimaki and the tiramisu. ”
“ This place is great! Definitely not a 2 star restaurant. Sushi is fresh, service Can be hectic but they are busy for a reason! The food is good! ”
“ Bizen is a very zen, peaceful restaurant. I really enjoy the calming atmosphere. The booths are tucked away and give a sense of privacy/enclosure for conversation. Their menu has short koans/poems woven throughout, adding to the effect. The food was great, too. I got the duck teriyaki appetizer sans teriyaki due to sesame oil allergy and it was a generous portion of tender slices of duck. The Red Moon roll (smoked salmon, scallion, avocado) was buttery, light, perfect. The sushi here is on the more expensive side ($13 for a relatively simple roll) but worth it. I sat at the bar and could watch the chef cooking appetizers on the grill. The waitress was attentive, friendly, and non-obtrusive in keeping with the pleasant minimalism of the whole experience. ”
“ Read on for: best vegetarian options + dining with kids recommendations. Pro tip for coming with kids-- come at 5pm on a weekday and ask for a booth/tatami/kaiseki room. This was absolute perfection for our party of 5 (my parents, my husband, and my 2.5 year old). My toddler was obsessed with the koi pond outside of our private tatami booth and despite being incredibly picky ate several roe eggs. Lol, what an adventure! It was great being in one of the kaiseki rooms because we could close the doors and eat in private with my kiddo (we brought towels to put under my messy child). This made the experience relaxing, which is not the word I usually use when dining with a 2.5 year old. I ordered for the table, having lived in Japan for a year and being very familiar with their vegetarian items. Here's what you should order, if you too are not a meat/seafood fan: Robata menu (grilled/stir fried items): Stir fried asparagus (yum!) Eggplant (it is seasonal and very delicious) Vegetable dumplings/shu mai Regular menu: House salad (the ume scallion dressing is my favorite!) Vegetable tempura/kabocha tempura (always good) Miso soup (my toddler really likes miso) Sushi menu: We got 2 Buddha rolls and 1 Silence of the yams rolls (ugh, these are both so good and I am ALWAYS so disappointed when I go to ALL other Japanese restaurants because nowhere has delicious vegetarian sushi rolls like Bizen). Seriously though, these rolls have lotus root and sweet potato tempura, avocado, spicy may, etc. My seafood eating husband got a roll that had Ukraine in the title, which he loved. ”
“ Not sure why the total is 3 stars for this place. It certainly deserves higher in my mind. Perhaps not 5 but 4.5 maybe. We went here for lunch. So the place wasn't that busy. Service was great. Functional and professional. Menu was extensive. Perhaps google a menu and plan your order. It's rather overwhelming. Lovely atmosphere in the place with these curtains you walk through to get in and then nice little Japanese style booths. Shoes off which was great. Food wise see the pics. Everything was tasty. ”
